The second part is stronghold,when I talk about stronghold some of us might think its something that comes from the village. Stronghold is a mindset and we cannot find the solution to a problem until we realize that we have a problem, I don't mean to sound negative but the gospel truth is that in Nigeria, Aba to be precise We have the worst gospel music entertainment industry,sorry to say that but I'm being frank...
The third problem we have is Religion, It has so much dealt with us, Realise that God is an entertaining Being,God created humans and after taking a good look at what he created he took pleasure in them, There's a standard for music and entertainment world, even in the Islamic world they play music and entertain themselves, but once we mention entertainment our religious mindset switches on, We should realise that this is it and we should accept it for what it is, I was talking with someone someday and I told him that our set of musicians failed our generation because when the likes of Paul Nwokocha,Felix Ndukwe and others were at our level ,they were dishing out hits every 30 days, As a matter of fact,Paul Nwokocha sold over 5 million CDs in Lagos alone.So what is happening to us right now.
The factors that guarantees success in the music industry today have changed but most of us are still holding unto old news and that is why we are no longer dishing out hits...
Next, We talk about packaging we talk about branding but first of all we have to change our mindset,One of the worst things that can happen to you in life is when you don't know when to get to the next level ,There is nothing wrong with being in the choir but if don't metamorphose or evolve you remain at the same spot, You should realise that you are the business, you don't need to have a shop in Ariaria ,The gift that God gave to you is His business but what you do with the gift is your business ...
Time will not allow me but these are the few things that if we take care of We'll have an industry in Aba, because what we have right now is only Music ministers and your talent will not pay until you take it to the market...
When asked the ultimate question on the lips of every upcoming artiste on how to break through to the top , in other words "how to blow". The experienced producer was quick to render his advice to everyone present on the steps to get to the top and become a successful artiste...
First of all, I'll say that Blowing is relative and the truth in the industry is that out of 100% of musicians its only 1% that blows, and having a blowing mindset is the worst thing you can do to yourself,
There's a studio I was working on at Lagos when two guys came in to record,I've never met them before but they came back from Canada the previous day and was going to UK the next day, so there are so many artistes in Lagos that you and I don't know but they are living large ...
So most of the principles that are applicable in business are also applicable in music,and like I said earlier many gospel musicians sound monotonous when we should create a niche for ourselves, discover what the people wants and that's how you'll be able to satisfy them...
Also when we talk about Gospel music we should be able to define it, gospel is good news,if the song is not promoting bad news then its gospel. A lot of us are doing only church music in the name of gospel music.if you understand the principles there's no way you won't be dishing out hits and that's the fastest way to blow...
